Thursday, 1st round of World Amateur Team Championship
With excelent weather started today the first round of the Eisenhower trophy, in Buenos Aires.
The French team, playing at the Buenos Aires Golf Club, is leading with -7, most of all thanks to Alexander Levy and Romain Wattel, both end with 33 in the last 9 holes, for totalizing -4 and -3. However Levy is sharing the first position in the individual with the Danish player Joachim Hansen who also totalized 33 in the back nine of the Olivos, ending with a double bogey in the par3 17th and birdie in the par 5 18th. The other player sharing the first position in the individual is Eugene Wong from Canada, who totalized -4 with 4 birdies, an eagle in the 1st hole par 5, and two boggies (3rd and 13th).
Denmark, Sweden and England are sharing the third position in the TEAM Leader board with 3 under par.
For tomorrow, those teams that played today at Buenos Aires will go to Olivos, and those that played Olivos today, will go to Buenos Aires. The first 35 teams after Friday second round, will be ending the championship Saturday in Olivos and final round Sunday at Buenos Aires Golf Club, and vice versa.
The USA team, expected to be the favorites, ended with 1 over par in the tied 9 position, and none of the three players could break the 71 par of the Olivos Golf Club.
Argentina team, also consider favorites for being locals and their knowledge of the courses, ended 5 over par and is tied 26. None of them also could break the Olivos par. To note was the unique back 9 holes played by Tomas Cocha with only one par (11th) birdies in 10th and 18th, five bogeys from 12th to 16th, and a HOLE IN ONE EAGLE in par3 17th.
The weather forecast for tomorrow, is announcing a storm in the morning (probably electric) with temperatures of 15 min and 21 maximum. However for Sunday final round, the weather is expected to be perfect.
